Story Behind the Song
I wrote this in my Music Theory class at MHS in Spring '02 for my final project, using Sibelius 2 software. I had to base it around a rhythmic theme so I chose a simple eighth-eighth-quarter rhythm that you can hear evident in the strings in the background. I chose tenor sax as the solo instrument because it has a sound that jumps out in front of the other instruments. There are also some great string and piano things going on in here that are subtle but add a lot to the song. Of course, the BASS is a huge part of this song... I actually wrote it for 5-string bass to utilize the low D at the beginning but it can also be played on a standard bass in drop-D tuning. Watch out for the guitar solo!
