Story Behind the Song
Many, many Holmes adaptations have been done for the radio over the last century. These scripts were adapted anew from the original Doyle stories. To portray Watson's worthy intellect, we jettisoned the most famous model, that of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, and opted for production values similar to the 1950s BBC broadcasts starring John Geilgud and Ralph Richardson.
Scandal in Bohemia is a great puzzle with a wonderful twist. Blanca Florido, also a coloratura who has performed in many operas, sang Irene Adler's "recording" that opens and closes the piece. This was my favorite of the trilogy we did.
-- Glenn Carlson, Director
