DIGITALLY REMASTERED FROM ORIGINAL TASCAM 424 4 TRACK ANALOG TAPES. Click on song title for detailed notes about the recording. The Liberty Street Blues Project played in and around Ann Arbor Michigan with various rosters from 1996-1999. The most successful lineup recorded a live gig on 2/22/1997 in Ann Arbor and this song is from that gig. Check out the gritty vocals of Matt Highland, the ferocious stratocater guitar of teen-age Danny Pratt, plus the tight rhythym section of bassist R.K. and drummer Kevin Logerquist. The whole place was dancing when the LSBP played this one...See also LSBP's studio recordings at www.mp3.com/LSBP

Story Behind the Song
The LSBP was more of a 'jam band'- we never used sheet music and often didn't have set lists- so there was somewhat of a spontaneous feel to the gigs and the songs. You can hear bassist Ron Kim spur of the moment calling out "Let's do Humbuckin'..." at about 0:07 into the track, and singer Matt Highland jumps on that and decides to do that song, which leads to Danny Pratt starting the guitar riff. We never really played a song the same way twice, although we knew all of the chords we usually just gave visual (a nod here, etc.) or audio clues (Kevin Logerquist's drumming often signalled turnarounds in the song) to make it through the song. You can hear in the guitar solo that the second time (at about 1:49 into the song) around Danny thinks the vocals will start up again, when they don't he continues his blazing solo (at about 1:52 into the song) for a second verse. This spontaneous feel made the LSBP sound fresh and exciting each gig, for both the audience and the band members. Technical notes: Danny Pratt played a vintage Fender Stratocaster guitar through a mic'd amp; Ron Kim played a Rickenbacker 4001 bass which was recorded directly, and Kevin Logerquist played a Roland digital drum set which was recorded direct.
