Story Behind the Song
i wrote this song on a rainy saturday, trying to escape the discomfort of my humid house in japan by wearing a cool cotton kimono called a yukata. i "got" it at the Keio Plaza hotel in downtown Shibuya, Tokyo.
my yukata rules.
Lyrics
wake up, roll outta bed.
time to relax, slip off your heavy threads.
looks like a cool rainy day,
nothin on the mind, no plans anyway.
don't think about getting dressed,
what's the point, clothes are just a mess.
instead of dressing up,
grab a robe, don it and tie it shut.
light summer cotton attire,
dressed this way, let's not perspire.
what is this lovely thing?
with the comfort and the joy it brings.
there can be only one, it's a yukata
and you know it's fun.
coming to ya straight from japan,
the southern flavor, hot humid and...
hoping to escape the heat
no ac, yet won't admit defeat.
here is one clever trick,
don't get dressed and the clothes won't stick.
white and blue, hanging in my closet,
a fresh yukata, from keio plaza
i wish i could wear this thing,
wear it at work, not just when i sing.
it makes me feel so good,
my yukata, see it has no hood.
