Story Behind the Song
My best friend Jeannie moved to New Zealand and paid for me to come visit her. Knowing it may be years before I could return the expensive favor, I wrote a song about and for her based on the sounds I'd heard in her new country and this set of 5-note chimes she had sitting on her piano in New Zealand. I finished it upon return to the U.S. on the piano. It's the mix I'm most proud of; with so many vocal and rhythms instruments, the possibilities are endless on the mixing and production. Making the final choices came easy once I realized I'd probably remix several times for different purposes in the course of my life. I decided on a direction, and here it is.
Lyrics
Do you know a girl?
Do you know a woman...
a warrior in feathers, white as a daisy!
She is of a mind strong with her will.
If you let her in, you'll see what I mean.
Jeannie, Jeannie Pink
Of the treasure, Gondwanaland!
Jeannie, Jeannie Pink
The treasure is in your heart.
It's so good to be home,
and inside where it's warm.
Oh Jeannie, the cold, it's right out the door!
Oh Jeannie, your love can kiss anyone
She might give you her love;
Are you strong enough to catch it?
Flying with the speed of a fire!
Maybe she'll hide away,
where Nobody will find her,
and Nobody's world will be there.
Then the rain will be outside, and she'll be in,
Dreaming dreams of a flowering child!
But when I come to call,
I know she'll answer!
Is her world just that pretty pink smile?
Jeannie Jeannie Pink....
