Story Behind the Song
We wrote this song from the perspective of being on the road (on tour)and just wanting to get home. You know that feeling when you've been away for a while, you're exhausted and nothing sounds quite as good as diving into your own lumpy bed, or sitting in your favorite old ripped-up chair, or being in the arms of your lover. That's what Home is really about...the longing for what we so often take for granted until it's not there.
Lyrics
HOME
D. Meredith/D. Zeman
I've been gone so long that I forgot how to just hang out
Playing this guitar and singing in every stinkin' one horse town
Now it won't be long
I'm a single day outside the state line
Heaven's waitin' in your eyes and your arms tonight
The sun is shining, the birds are singing a different tune - the feeling's right
Now it won't be long
So close - I feel your lips on mine
I'm on my way
'Cause I can't wait to be
Home - all the way home
Through every twist in the road
Takin' me home, all the way home
And that much closer to you
Everything is fine, the air is clean, the water's nice and
All sensibility is wasted by the beauty of the day
The smell of flowers blooming in the backyard this time of year
Makes my mission oh so clear
Well I can't wait
'Til I can stay with you
Home - all the way home
Counting the miles as I go
Takin' me home, all the way home
And that much closer to you
Home - all the way home
The sweetest place I've ever known
Someday I'd like a big ass house on top of a big ass hill
With a swimming pool, where all the rock stars just hang out and light up
But, if that doesn't happen - well that'll be alright
'Cause I got you and baby that's all I need to be
REPEAT CHORUS
