Story Behind the Song
The motivation for this song was fear, and how we have to overcome it. Fear of everything! I wrote the song with the mindset of how would I overcome the fear of life in medival England, or anytime for that matter. I wrote the song in my home,in Cedarpines Park,CA. It took me about two hours to write the lyrics,it took me four hours to five hours to record the song. It took me too many takes to remember!
Lyrics
He's waited twenty long years, and now it's trial by fire, while the jester sings fare thee well, I fear he is a liar. Orders given him to do his best, with a devilish grin commands. A coat of maile upon his chest, protection from their plans. Never ever feared man or beast, with a broadsword at his side. But now he's flailing recklessly, at the ghosts he cannot hide, cannot hide. Twenty years having come and gone, being master of his fate.Twilight years pushed him to the brink, and now he's growing tired, growing tired, growing tired of his life. With a heart of a lion,he faces his fear, reluctant in his quest. A sage appears,
(and he says)
Like the days of old, you've got to prove your worth. Dreams don't come easy, no, it takes a lot of work.Unmoveable power is what you've come against, you hold the hopes of many whose lives are often spent. So unsheath your mighty broadsword, and let the others stand and cheer. Show the world you've got what it takes to overcome your fear. Overcome your fear.
