    Story Behind the Song
This Song is about a friend of mine That I was a child with, he died in 98 and the night I heard about it all I could hear was this lousey train, I wrote part of it at his Grave in my head, playing out this conversation to him and then i simplified it, and had this song. It took me a while to put it all together and it actually recorded first take.

    Lyrics
    Letters to kacey
    {Phillips}

    I heard the train
    the night you went away
    that stays with me
    until my dying day

    So why hurt myself
when i know that it won't change
    and why hurt yourself
when you know you'll go insane

    i spoke to god
but he did'nt say a thing
    makes me think
    that he's never listening

    so why fool myself
    with somethin i don't see
    and why fool yourself
when you know you don't believe

    i know now
i don't wanna hear the train
    and i know now
it's never gonna be the same

    so tell me now
what it means to feel this way
    and tell me how
how i'm getting through the day

    I heard the train
    the night you went away
    that stays with me
    until my dying day

    So why hurt myself
when i know that it won't change
    and why hurt yourself
when you know you'll go insane
