    Story Behind the Song
I was sitting in a night club in LA in the early 80's. The place was filled witht he rich and famous. I am the poet sittin' in hte corner. This song was originally titled 'Beautiful People'. This song features Teresa Russell doing her thing with her electric guitar. Nuff said.

    Lyrics
Midnight cruiser he's a user coming into town til his money is all gone
Over by the bar he sees dynamite, with a low cut dress on
Out on the dance floor he whispers to her.."Baby your the one..."

There's a big black car with a movie star, and a writer who used to be a con
They jump out like gods, descending from clouds and the music is playing real loud
And over in the corner there's a poet drinking and thinking, don't these people have a job, for crying out loud

Roxanns a princess without a country living on an allowance that would feed the hungry
She's beautiful and young a little bit high strung, like a thoroughbred fill she loves to run,
It's one A.M. and the night time has just begun

The paparazzi they shout with glee cause they caught a recluse out for the evening
Their cameras go off just like firing squads and our hero he dives for cover
And just righ then the new golden boy walks in and all the women they try to recover

Well it's two A.M. and the real royalty is drifting in, the ones born in the lap of luxury
They've got that style that you just can't buy no matter what you have done
And over in the corner's this poet drinking and thinking, don't these people get tired of having ...so much fun
