Story Behind the Song
I got dumped...what else...? This recording was done in two takes. The second take was then overdubbed with the harmony vocal. Total time recording, about a half hour.

One Salty Tear
by CowboySlim
Up around Lake Erie, neath a blanket of new snow
A cowgirl sings a song, cause she's in love.
The man she wants to marry hung up the telephone
With the words that she had just been dreaming of.
Out in California, a lonely Cowboy sings the blues
As he longs for the greener pastures of his youth.
He still turns the ladies' heads, but then they turn away
As the graying in his beard tells them the truth.
And he thinks of his time with the Cowgirl.
Not a care in the world held him down.
But the sweetest of Angels kissed him goodbye,
As she told him, "I'll see you around."
For thirty years, he held on.
Thirty years he lived alone.
For thirty years he waited
For the ringing of his phone...
Then finally, the call came in,
But the news was, she was gone...
And he wonders how he'll ever carry on.
Driving down the Interstate in a beat-up Chevy truck,
He sings a wistful song from long ago.
He wonders to himself, "Will I ever love again?"
And he sings another verse, it goes like so:
"I still think of the times when I held her.
Not a care in the world held us down.
But the sweetest of Angels has kissed me goodbye
And now they've laid her cold body down."
And One Salty Tear hits the ground.
