Story Behind the Song
It took me ten minutes to write...then I posted the lyric on a songwriting web site...they said it needed more info...like what's in the showcases? so, I took another eight minutes to write another verse...but it was after midnight when I finished, so, since I live in a hotel, I had to wait another day to record the new version...the old version is also on this website, in the folk genre
Lyrics
My Price Is Right
by CowboySlim
v 1)
One of these days, they're gonna call my name,
And tell me "Come on down!"
I'll play their games and roll their dice,
And I won't mess around.
And when Bob Barker tells those girls
To show me showcase two,
I'll calculate the total price,
And then here's what I'll do:
Chorus:
I'll say, "Bob, let's roll those dice once more,
C'mon and take a chance!
You can't get all dressed up like that,
And not go to the dance.
I'll roll you double or nothin'
To see who wins tonight.
I gotta win both showcases,
And I know My Price Is Right!"
v 2)
Showcase one's got a red Mustang,
I've wanted one for years
I can feel the wind whipping through my hair,
As I put her through the gears.
The other showcase has a boat,
And a home out on the coast.
I'd flip a coin, but I can't decide
Which one I want the most.
Chorus:
So Bob, let's roll those dice once more,
C'mon and take a chance!
You can't get all dressed up like that,
And not go to the dance.
I'll roll you double or nothin'
To see who wins tonight.
I gotta win both showcases,
And I know My Price Is Right!"

v 3)
Since calculators aren't allowed,
I'll use my fingers and toes,
And if the numbers get too big,
I'll even count my nose
I'll show those folks a thing or two
Or maybe even three,
And nothing will be left to chance,
When Johnny calls on me.
Chorus:
"Hey, Bob, let's spin that wheel once more,
C'mon and take a chance!
You can't get all dressed up like that,
And not go to the dance.
I'll spin you double or nothin'
To see who wins tonight.
I gotta win both showcases,
And I know My Price Is Right!"
v 4)
Well, something must be very wrong,
'Cause though they called me down,
Instead of grinning ear to ear,
I'm wearing a big frown.
I underbid the actual price
But, damn, it made no sense
A girl from Oklahoma
Outbid me by ten cents.
"Hey, Bob, let's roll those dice once more,
Give me another chance!
I can't get all dressed up like this,
And not go to the dance.
I'll roll you double or nothin'
To see who wins tonight.
I gotta win those showcases,
And I know My Price Is Right!"
Yeah, I gotta win those showcases,
And I know My Price Is Right!
