Story Behind the Song
I thought it might be nice to have two very different people meet and fall in love. So, I created the lovelorn yuppie guy, wearing his Brooks Brothers' suit. He discovers, while walking down a city street a young woman who looks like she walked right out of the sixties. He has doubts about whether she will be interested in him, but love prevails.
Lyrics
Walking down the street, looking for love
I was so alone,
Living's been rough, loving's been tough,
she'd hung up the phone,
Then I looked and saw a vision coming, wearing new-wave threads and a beehive on her head.
Walked on over, in spite of everything and introduced myself,
Didn't think I'd get to first base but she said she been looking for someone herself,
And she said that I looked real cute with my briefcase and my Brooks Brothers' suit.
She's my bouffant girl, she's my bouffant girl
She's my bouffant girl, she's my bouffant girl
Baby be my bouffant, baby be my bouffant,
baby be my bouffant girl,
Ooooooooeeee....
Walked on over, in spite of everything
and introduced myself,
didn't think I'd get to first base
But she said she'd been looking for someone herself,
And she said I looked real cute with my brief case and in my Brooks Brothers' suit.
She's my bouffant girl, she's my bouffant girl, She's my bouffant girl, she's my bouffant girl
Baby be my bouffant, baby be my bouffant ,
baby be my bouffant girl
oo, ooo, oo, ooo
