Story Behind the Song
The song is about the realities of our current dating scene.
The song was written in London, Ontario. It really didn't take long to write. Probably over 1 session to finalize the melody and structure. Lyrics of course took a little bit of tweaking probably over a few sessions.
Lyrics
Verse 1
I was a fly on a wall,
In Déjà vu café,
I was that girl you were working on seemed like only yesterday.
The put on smile's familiar,
As you gaze into her eyes,
Conversation's still predictable,
With every corny line.
Chorus
You're a little presumptuous,
You're only in it for yourself,
Come on, get serious,
You're a little presumptuous.
Verse 2
Hey mister one hit wonder,
Don't you ever read the signs,
We're not looking for some magic,
Just a man who's genuine.
Don't you get it we're all onto you,
Can't you get it in that head,
To take a girl for dinner,
Is not a booking in her bed.
Chorus
You're a little presumptuous,
You're only in it for yourself,
Come on, get serious,
You're a little presumptuous.
Bridge
Oooh, a man who gives me satisfaction,
Oooh, I want a man who does it right,
Oooh, full of love and full of passion,
Oooh, not a man for just one night.
Verse 3
Learn to use your instincts,
Cause they help you see the way,
You don't figure in his future,
You're just another easy lay.
Chorus
