Story Behind the Song
My sister, Debbie, shared with me her desire to write music. She said she had an idea, but didn't know where to take it. I sat down at the piano and said, "Let's do it now." We started into the first few lines and Debbie wanted to quit. She thought is was a little "Corny." By this time, I really felt the spirit and was getting a little choked up about it. I asked her if I could finish it and a few months later came up with the version recorded here. Hopefully, Debbie's next try will be more successful for her. She definitely was on the right track with this one!
Lyrics
In a darkened room, without any light. I kneel down in prayer, wondering what is right. Darkness fills me with despair, "Are you there? (Lord, can you hear me?) Please hear my prayer and, Lord, put your arms around me. Are you there? Lord, let thy love surround me. Hear my prayer.
Give me hope and send me your spirit. Help me face this life and not to fear it. Touch my heart and help me find peace in the arms of love."
The arms of Love, mmmmmmm, of love.
I have often thought
(Please dear Father)
that life isn't fair
(Oh, my Father, hear me.)
and I live my life as a child that's scared. And I, help everyone but me.
(I need you)
"I'm on my knees (hear me.)
oh, help me please and Lord put your arms around me, I am here. (Are you there) Hold me and take my sorrow (hear my Prayer)
Give me hope and send me your spirit.
Help me face this life and not to fear it.
Touch my heart and help me find peace in the arms of love.
Give me peace, speak to my heart. Comfort my soul and hold me in your arms. Hear my prayer, I know you're there. And, Lord, I've found peace in the arms of your love.
