    Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song when the government did something stupid - and I started thinking about abuse of power, about how the scum rises to the top and trashes our world. It frustrates and amazes me that we've evolved so far and yet we can still be so short-sighted about the environment - the one on the planet, and the interpersonal one we create for ourselves. For anyone that lives in Ontario, Canada, you'll know what I mean when I say this was the Harris government era. This song is featured in the Acheron Film 2002 release, "Bikini Party Massacre".

    Lyrics
Been a hundred million years of climbing
And we're pushing on and the beacon's shining
And we're clinging to the rocks they're kicking down
And we find the same old demons hanging around
    Survival of the most destructive
Everyone screams of the master plan they've found
Little girl cries in a secret corner
While the lords of her free land just sit around

    And the lessons fade
    Under the crowd's cold gaze
    And the bloody hand
Draws a line in the sand

The time has come to make a stand
Speak your heart in the impersonal land

We're living in a world of wonder
Take our voices across the sea like thunder
Where the call of the whale is lost in the waves
And the cry of the tiger rises and fades
    Survival of the master races
Fools rushing in with twisted faces
Can we speak with an open hand
Over the open wound of a conquered land

And the heart of a child
    Is tossed to the wild
    And the upper hand
Takes whatever's left of the land

The time has come to make a stand
Speak your heart in the impersonal land
