    Story Behind the Song
Essentially written based on somebody I knew when I worked in child care. The ending is in essence a seperate song, and was first introduced as part of "Pala Gama Programma"

    Lyrics
    "Amie"

Amie breathes the air of indecision and doubt
and the stench of another night alone
    tucks the children into bed
    and cries herself to sleep
    and reaches for the unknown.

Amie drinks the pool of life
    inside her cup
and lets the excess drip off her lips
Smiles the smile of one who knows all
    and fears the fears
of one who should know better.

    Trapped in her starry night
    fantasy
    wide-eyed
    wild child
    cherry-scented
    blanket-covered hurricane...
    Trapped in her starry night
    fantasy
    wide-eyed
    wild child
    cherry-scented
    blanket-covered hurricane...

(Where I go I don't know, but I'm trapped in the woman's aging eyes.)

    Amie licks the silver spoon
she dipped inside the honey jar
and lets the taste linger on her tongue.
Holds the warmth within her soul
    into the night
    to fight the cold
    of being alone.

Some say the velvet comfort drains the essence
like a vampire drains the blood.
Amie wipes the powder off her face
    and puts her hair up
and looks in the mirror at the teenaged girl
trapped in the woman's aging eyes.

Amie heaves the sighs of better days gone by
and she holds the hope inside that better days will come
    Kisses her children good-bye
then goes to work to create
the false illusion that all is normal now.

Some say that neon dims her perspective
    like blindness brings eternal night
Amie draws the curtains closed again
    and takes her mask off
and looks inside at the teenaged girl
trapped in the woman's aging eyes.
    (And where I go I don't know
but I'm trapped in the woman's aging eyes...)

    Trapped in her starry night
    fantasy
    wide-eyed
    wild child
    cherry-scented
    blanket-covered hurricane...
    Trapped in her starry night
    fantasy
    wide-eyed
    wild child
    cherry-scented
    blanket-covered hurricane...

Amie kisses the shadows of her doubt
and she sleeps with the essence of her fears
Someday she knows it will all go away
    with hope
it's not by the numbness brought on by her years.

Some say the velvet comfort drains her essence
like a vampire drains her blood.
Amie wipes the powder off her face
    and draws the curtains closed
and looks in the mirror at the teenaged girl
trapped in the woman's aging eyes...
trapped in the woman's aging eyes...
(I'm) trapped in the woman's aging eyes...

"What do you think of me now?"
What do you think of me now?
How could you think of me now?
    How did you get away?
    Why?
    Oh why?
    Oh why?
