A mid-tempo excursion through the terrain of my heart. Violins and vocal harmonies add texture to this tail of a girl who is late coming home but always makes up for it twice-fold.
    CD: Tabula Rasa
    Credits: Written, produced: Jesse Kreger

    Story Behind the Song
I originally wrote 'Sweet Marie' as a sad song but one night, whilst I was in high spirits, I rewrote the chorus in one fell swoop of optimism to add an uplifting chorus hook that people have been known to sing along with before even hearing the song once through.
Recorded in London at Mayfair Studios with Supergrass' engineer. All first and second takes

    Lyrics
I get tired of waiting for you to come home
I can feel my patience fading,
    every moment I'm alone.
So hurry home baby, I'll still let you in
We can lie in arms together
    I won't ask where you've been

You know you're my Sweet Marie
And I just can't get enough of what you're doing to me
Did you think we could hide
Behind the emotions you keep bottled up inside?
No but I'd rather let them be.

Now the door slams, she's in from the cold
But the moment I see her face I know something's wrong
There's a time for peace baby, and there's a time for war.
To each, his own, in time
    What are you rushing for?

You know you're my Sweet Marie
And I just can't get enough of what you're doing to me
Did you think we could hide
Behind the emotions you keep bottled up inside?
No but I'd rather let them be.
No but I'd rather let them be
