Story Behind the Song
"Wasted Land" was written in the winter of 1997 while walking around and noticing the lack of life.
Lyrics
There's a place where we all need to run to sometimes.
There's a time when we believed that everything was fine.
There's a dream that we all escape to when feelin' low.
And in our minds, we'll seek the truth we all need to know.
Look over the horizon into tomorrow
and wash your hands of today's sorrows.
Welcome to this wasted land,
where no one's there to catch us when we fall.
All alone in this wasted land;
the ground's dried up and trees no longer stand tall.
What used to grow and bloom
has turned to doom and gloom.
So, take me away from this wasted land.
There's a star that we all wish upon from afar.
There's a light shining bright at the end of the road.
And I have stared deep into the eyes of the stranger.
And I have found the reflection in his eyes was of me.
Swim deep in the pools of salvation
and don't be fooled by evil temptation.
Welcome to this wasted land,
where no one's there to catch us when we fall.
All alone in this wasted land;
the ground's dried up and trees no longer stand tall.
What used to grow and bloom
has turned to doom and gloom.
So, take me away from this wasted land.
Look over the horizon into tomorrow
and wash your hands of today's sorrows.
Welcome to this wasted land,
where no one's there to catch us when we fall.
All alone in this wasted land;
the ground's dried up and trees no longer stand tall.
What used to grow and bloom
has turned to doom and gloom.
So, take me away from this wasted land.
Welcome to this wasted land;
the ground's dried up and trees no longer stand tall.
All alone in this wasted land;
where no one's there to catch us when we fall.
What used to grow and bloom
has turned to doom and gloom.
So, take me away from this wasted land.
Welcome to this wasted land,
where no one's there to catch us when we fall.
All alone in this wasted land;
the ground's dried up and trees no longer stand tall.
What used to grow and bloom
has turned to doom and gloom.
So, take me away from this wasted land.
