Story Behind the Song
The first verse of this song was written back in about 1988 in Clear Lake, Iowa. About 5 of my friends and I were standing in circle at a bar when a women stumbled into the circle. She was so drugged up that she could barley stand. She touched me in an inappropriate fashion and said, "You look just like my brother!" Everyone roared with laugher as she stumbled away.
Lyrics
She takes the needle, push it in.
Found the place where the pain begins,
Delight deceit is her lover,
She's got no room or time for others.
Oh...I don't know.
Oh...I don't know.
He lays the lines down on the glass,
Another snort and that feeling's past,
It once was fun, but now he knows
It started small, but now it's grown.
Oh...I don't know.
Oh...I don't know.
Got to feed the addictions,
Before they bring us down.
I remember a lifetime,
Before I started to drown.
I've got to feed it,
I've got to feed it now!
He grabs the whiskey, downs the glass,
One more shot and that feeling's past.
He thinks of all that might have been,
Grabs the glass and drinks again.
Oh...I don't know.
Oh...I don't know.
Got to feed the addictions,
Before they bring us down.
I remember a lifetime,
Before I started to drown.
I've got to feed it,
I've got to feed it now!
And now its time for my disease,
Some call ambition, I call greed.
The closer that the money gets,
The more the disease digests.
Oh...I don't know.
Oh...I don't know.
Oh...I don't know.
