Story Behind the Song
This song was motivated by our anticipation of hearing our friend, Bill Hay's swing band. We hope they may perform it some day - and we also hope we get to hear them!
Lyrics
You can sort of sing them in your head to the song:
Miss Ima Krabbe
Oh don't you run a foul of lady, who I know,
Oh don't you get too friendly with Miss Ima Krabbe,
Oh don't you ever speak to, or dance with that woman,
'Cause she'll just take your lovin' then they'll put you on a slab.
Oh once I had a friend who decided he liked her,
Yes he tried to love her, Miss Ima Krabbe,
He took her to the theatre, and later, to her place,
and then she took his lovin' and she put him in a cab.
Chorus:
Dontcha fall for her old tricks or "femme fatale" ways,
She tries to make you think you're the one.
I've heard she tortures some poor guys for days upon days,
They say that's how she tries to have her fun!
Don't you ever talk to, or look at, or stare at,
Or try to get attention from Miss Ima Krabbe.
If she decides she want's you, you're toasted, we fear that,
She'll just take your lovin' then she'll put you in a cab...
Refrains:
1)Well she's a master of seduction, with a cold heart of stone,
And you wouldn't think she'd always get her way.
When she puts her arms around you there's a chill to the bone,
But her magic makes it all just melt away...
2) Well she's a master of seduction, and she steals your will,
And you know that she will always get her way.
But her love is just as phoney as a three dollar bill,
And her games are just a twisted form of play...
Last Verse:
Oh don't you think or dream of, or wish for, or call on,
This girl you heard the tale of, Miss Ima Krabbe.
'Cause if she comes to find you're a guy she can fall on
She's gonna take your lovin', then they'll put you on a slab.
