Story Behind the Song
The motivation for this song was to express what I think of as a free spirit through the spirit of a wild horse that runs. The lyrics are a parallel of that free-spiritedness so that people can understand the feeling of a free spirit in action. I wrote this song in about thirty minutes, with the piano accompaniment being first. It took me one hour to record this song with vocals, and few takes in between.
Lyrics
Wild horses run like there is no tomorrow.
Wild horses run and they feel no sorrow,
They just are, they travel far,
Wild horses run.
As you sail across the water,
See the setting of the sun.
The winds caress you like a lover,
You can feel wild horses run.
Run, because there is no place you can call your own.
Run, like a stallion you will always roam.
It is the wind that knows you by your name,
A wild horse you cannot tame,
Wild horses run.
A wild horse you are, you are so wild, so free.
A wild horse you are, and we rarely see you as you are,
A shooting star,
Wild horses run.
Because there is no place you can call your home,
Like a stallion you will always roam.
It is the wind that knows you by your name,
A wild horse you cannot claim,
Wild horses run.
Wild horses run.
Wild horses run.
