Story Behind the Song
I remember growing up, watching my dad sing all the time to all of his old records. He had some little records he made at the Empire State Building when he was in the service and I listened to them all the time. My dad inspired me to do wat I'm doing today.
Thanks Dad
Lyrics
My dad sent my mother, many years ago.
love letters with a record, never played on radio.
He was young and in love, a full fledged dreamer.
His love was fulfilled, but not as a singer.
I can still see him singing, towell over his shoulder.
Old records played, as he sang over and over.
We'd watch in amazement, we thought he was good.
And everynight we'd listen, while he would.
Chorus
Sing those songs, we still like to hear.
That grow even older, year after year.
Sing those songs, that bring your eyes to tears.
Songs that made. other mens careers.
Now it's sad to say, the years have gone by.
My dad has grown older, but sometimes he'll try.
Hitting the high notes, on an old favorite song.
Playing his records, and singing along.
His voice is not as good, as it use to be.
But it can still bring back, those great memories.
Repeat Chorus
