Story Behind the Song
I was dating a girl who was really cool, but had some trust issues. She had some bad times in her life, did a few things she regreted and thought that noone could accept her because of her past. The problem seem to be that she couldn't accept or forgive herself for the things that she had done.
Lyrics
People—People tell me--- that a persons eyes are the windows to their hearts.
They tell whats livin---They tell whats dyin-
They tell everything that’s been tearin a person apart.
And sometimes, late at night- when your lyin there gently by my side
I can read your thoughts I can read your mind
But their ain’t no way I can read them painted eyes no no
Cuz you hide them well -yeah you cover them well
You never let anybody see inside
No I can’t read a women with painted eyes - No I can’t read a women with painted eyes
(chorus)
But I know that somewhere, deep down inside
There’s a little girl, that just wants to break down and cry
And I know. And I know some day those painted eyes
There gonna shed those tears na na na—
and let me inside, let me inside,
let me inside
Well I know where you’ve been girl,
I can see the cards that life has thrown your way
And I know all the things your tryin to forget girl
I’ve heard all the things that everybodys had to say
But I’m here with you every night and day
And I ain’t never gonna
[walk] [away] [from] you.
Cuz I love you baby.
(chorus)
But I know that somewhere, deep down inside
There’s a little girl,
that just wants to break down and cry
And I know. And I know some day those painted eyes
There gonna shed those tears na na na
and let me inside, let me inside,
let me inside
Repeat)
