Story Behind the Song
The lyrics are really a letter, what would I say to someone I love, how would I say it, so they really understand how I feel? This is a totally online collaboration including the production process done on a digital audio workstation, between artists who have never met in person. All agree, this tune took on a life of its own and created itself to a great degree!

If You Were

If you were the man in the moon,
And I was a star in the sky,
I'd be the light in your eyes,
And you'd be my silver lining.
You'd always have something to smile about,
I never would fall from the clouds,
You'd love me, I'd love you.
We'd shine all the time.
If you were a bird in a tree,
And I was the leaves on the branches,
I'd keep you from flying away,
And you'd keep me company all my days.
You'd always have something to sing about,
And I'd never let you fall,
We would be at home, together alone,
We'd fly all the time.
Everybody thinks I'm crazy dreaming like I do.
They say I should forget you, I'm foolin myself.
Your love's like smoke and mirrors
That I can't quite see through and I can't believe
That you won't come to me.
If you were a book on the shelf,
And I was the storyteller,
I'd always leave out the end,
And you'd never close the chapter.
You'd always have something to dream about,
And I'd never wake you up.
Through sorrow and laughter and life ever after.
Everybody thinks I'm crazy dreaming like I do.
They say I should forget you, I'm foolin myself.
Your love's like smoke and mirrors
That I can't quite see through and I can't believe
That you won't come to me.
