	Story Behind the Song Those of you who’ve followed Franklin’s work may recognize reframed standards such as “Inarticulate Boyfriend” from his heralded “Etudes to a Snack Master” cassette (circa 1991 the height of his complicated “orange period”). You may wonder why we aimed so high. It was a daunting task I grant you but I’m placing a fiver on the tree stump that when you’ve got the CD under the laser you’ll swoon to the new, ultimate and pinnacle Calexified form the song took once we got Joey Burns and John Convertino in the room after seventy dollars worth of take out from Pico de Gallo. Lyrics YOUR INARTICULATE BOYFRIEND he can barely string two words together he can barely get his point across you hold up both ends of the conversation and help him every time he's at a loss he doesn't beat you he doesn't treat you as cruel as the people that you dated in school so who am I to begrudge you happiness? he can barely form a compound sentence he can barely state his case at all and every time he asks you to come over you're there before he gets a chance to stall he wouldn't hurt you he won't desert you but still you're not required to bend to his will but who am I to begrudge you happiness without end with your inarticulate boyfriend? why don't you take up ventriloquism? why don't you just sit him on your knee? and make him say you're everything he wanted make him pledge his love grammatically you say I've cheapened a love that's deepened with time is that such an unspeakable crime? but who am I to begrudge you (it's not my place to judge you) who am I to begrudge you happiness?
