A simple, depressing and slightly sappy song featuring nylon string guitar and vocals. I know, I know, "stick to the guitar and the metal" but well, this song needed to be done with vocals and they had to be mine so enjoy, or don't. Metal fans beware. |

Story Behind the Song
This was one of those songs that just had to be written. One night in early December 2001, I think, I was feeling rather, well, like this song, and it just all kinda came out at once. I almost stopped after the first verse/chorus but then decided to just keep going and finished it.
Lyrics
To know the future releases no fear
It still haunts me knowing you won't be near
I can't desert you, though you wouldn't bat an eye
I wouldn't hurt you though I couldn't if I tried
There's no wind and there's nowhere to fly
There's no hope for those of us who aren't afraid to die
There's a reflection in a clear starlit sky
I believe that some eyes should never have to cry
Acceptance is painless, but what follows is hell
To sit within the constant echo of a tolling bell
Sometimes a person means so much, though we don't know why
And all that we can do is watch them drifting by
There's no answer to the endless whispers "why?"
There's no solace from this ache in a lie
With another soul this burnt spirit could reach so high
Yet I still believe that some eyes should never cry
I've never been this close, I've always been this far
I've always stood alone, reaching for a star
The empty darkness holds a space that's screaming to be filled
Its only answer comes as each of my dreams is killed
There's no wind and there's nowhere to fly
I know I'll live without, but sometimes in living we still die
Wish all of this could be understood in a single sigh
Still I won't be there to ensure those eyes will never cry
