It's the little, stupid things that cause the most stress. Kind of a Junior Brown style country song. |

Story Behind the Song
I have what most people consider a stressful job. Only, the job doesn't stress me out as much as stupid, little things do. Once, I almost passed out from a dramatic rise in blood pressure over standing in a line with my wife to buy 2 dish towels. There was a lady in front of us who had 5 items, none priced over $3. She challanged the price of each item, one by one. She saved a total of $2 and change. 40 minutes later, we made it thru the checkout stand. I'd paid the difference just to get checked out. There was only one checkout opened that day. Needless to say, that stressed me out.

Stressed

1:
Standing in another check out line that says express
There's thirty checkout stands but they're all closed
Waiting as someone price checks another tagless dress
This ought to be a crime what I've disclosed
(Chorus)
2:
Going through the drivethru gonna get a bite to eat
The little voice says one more minute please
You finally get to order then you're asked to pull around
But the order that you asked for's not received
(Chorus)
3:
On a widened highway and you're trying to make some ground
Some blue-haired grandma's in the left-hand lane
She pokes along like Christmas but you cannot get around
A step away from driving you insane
Well you honk and cuss and yell at her but nothing seems to work
In first gear and wearing out the brakes
It does no good to tell her that you think she is a jerk
You're not sure how much more your heart can take
Chorus:
There's nothing more maddening than to stand in a long line
To purchase something you don't really need
Or to be behind some idiot whose clogging up the road
When you're running late and feel the need for speed
