Story Behind the Song
This song was motivated by my own dissappointment in my material impulses, and the desire to live for something bigger. Drive was pieced together over several years and it is one of our oldest songs, even though it wasn't finished in time for the first album.

I felt the wind race by my ear and whisper

Dirty streets and paths were chosen

Driven hopeless, as I walked I felt the

world race by my ear and whisper

The slaves to gold are all that hold the world

That won't release me
F C F C Am Dsus4-2
Drive away; drive away
In my Olds convertible
The scene flows over me
Like a blanket of fresh snow
It covers with a whisper
Bought this Olds convertible
To take me far from there
I felt the wind race by my ear and whisper
The slaves to gold are all that hold the world
That won't release me
Drive away; drive away
[bridge intro chords...A*, C*, A*, D*]
A* C* A*
She stood too tall for herself amid the field of vast wheat
D* A*
Which knelt down the loaming sky that fed her wilder motive
C* A* D*
That old farmhouse, over there, is where she first caught me
A* C*
Looking between the rungs of the porch
A* D*
With eyes so close, out with me even
[F, C, F, C...]
The slaves to gold are all that hold the world
That won't release me
Drive away; drive away
