Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song after reading a book on the evils of technology and pop culture: how it's usurping interaction between people de-humanizing life, destroying faith, and raising entertainment beyond its place. So I wrote a song from the viewpoint of a person who could not cope with the different aspects of science and faith and who chose to follow technology, but is coming to the realization that maybe work and physical things don't give everything the human needs.
Lyrics
Cycles
No faith, No wonder
echnology has stolen all the life we are growing
No stake, No plunder
Only constant day by day while struggle not to say
No womb, No father
Technology has surpassed the gift of life I'm giving
Don't cry, Don't bother
Merely smile that you seem wanted in a world where you can say
It's not our life, not our love
Not our heaven above
Not our generation, not our world at all
Merely past illusions saying we can make the call
No dreams, just icons
Subverting all of our passion, destroying emotion
Relax, and listen:
Enlightened celebrities who know that it's right to say
It's not my song, not my God
Not life as an after thought
You're not my friend, I've no friends at all
Merely past delusions push until I fall on my knees
It's not our life, not our love
Not our heaven above
Not our generation, not our world at all
Merely past illusions saying we can make the call
So why am I so afraid to die?
Nothing is nothing to be afraid of (right?)
No purpose, no reason
More statistics of a season
In the cycle of life of what?
