Story Behind the Song
Our family dog of many years, Banjo, died recently beside the road when out on one of her nightly roamings. Only shortly before this we'd acquired a young pup: Cooper. Perhaps Banjo had sensed her replacement had arrived and, though she was as cordial as was reasonable with the frisky whippersnapper, we all feel a little guilt for not...waiting.
Banjo is now buried in my old 'estate coat' overlooking the main campfire up at Camp Seacrest: warm in Dad's smell and watching the kids evermore. Things could have gone worse for an erstwhile pound puppy, eh old dog?
