Story Behind the Song
"Maybe Today" was written in the fall of 2001, though the chord progression had been annoying stuck in Bryonie's head since the summer. The lyrics were taken from a poem she had written, and over the course of a few days, the band worked out all the parts and the song fell into place. The more rock-ish guitar idea was developed by producer Chris Hughes.
Lyrics
V.1
 I don't know
 What it is
 That has got me
 Tangled in.

 Running round and round
 Tryin' to find an end
 Don't know where I'm heading
 Found the start line again
I don't know what to say
Turn my back, walk away again.

 *refrain 1*

Maybe today the world won't be the same.
Maybe today I'll find my way
 Again.

 ---Chorus

 Just another day.
Way to go, I got started slow.
 Just another phase.
I figured out what I already know.

 V.2

 Morning came,
 Walked in and said,
 "How ya doin'?"
And left me in the dark again.

 Well, daylight comes
 Sun streaks the face.
What to do, what to do?
Everything's so bent out of shape.
 Twilight, he's a little inbetween
Of what's hidden in the darkness
And what's meant to be seen.

 *refrain2*

Night time, she's a little upside down.
Afterall, the world keeps spinning round and round
 And round.

 --CHORUS

 I don't know
 What it is
 That has got me
 Tangled in.
