Indie-alternative-mountain-funk song about yearning. As to the meaning of the song - it's multiple choice - take your pick ... political, sex, crime drama, or nothing at all. |

Story Behind the Song
A friend's journal reflected the wish/waiting for her "Big Bang," her ship to come in, etc., and Alex started playing around with the word bang, eventually hearing a riff that he brought to the Lab where he and Roy started experimenting and developing...
They started recording instruments... acoustic guitar/slide, bass, keyboard synth using sound effects of clavier & drums, then experimented with trying to get a "telephone voice" by dropping the microphone down in a variety of jars, plastic containers, Saran wrap, etc. Originally the lyrics changed EVERY time Alex started singing - just making them up as he went along, till finally while recording a scratch track, the "made-ups" got put on paper against his wishes, and Roy had to argue with him to not automatically record over that track. Finally, he gave in.
Lyrics
I wanna be the greatest of the ultimate sins
I wanna have a turn so I can finally win
I wanna hit a million bucks at work
Where the slot machine is busy just making jerks.
Now I'm working on a bang bang bang
I'm working on a chain gang
I wonder who my friends are
I wonder if I'm ever gonna meet that star. Bang bang.
Well I'm working on a bang bang bang
Trying to find something to complain about
I'm dancing in the evening rain
I'm held up by a midnight train. Bang bang.
Dead president's corpse in a driver's car
Looking for a girl who really goes far
Lights up my eyes like a city street
Looking for the one I'd like to meet.
Well I'm working on a bang bang bang
Trying to find something to complain about
I'm dancin' in the evening rain
I'm waitin' on a midnight train.
I wanna be a giant man
I wanna lead someone to understand
Somewhere in the distance there's a great somewhere
And I'd be greatful to end up anywhere, anywhere, anywhere, anywhere.
While I'm working on a bang bang
Ciao!
