This is a wind controller-driven improv in Audio Mulch, using VST effects and a synth I designed in Tassman 2.1. Although the sonorities in this piece are extremely electronic, I'm struck by it's essential similarity to free jazz. One of the things I love about jazz-based free improv is the multiplicity of lines. This has the same abundance of content, but it's all triggered by the same source--the MIDI wind controller. Since every sound shares the same provenance, all are related, lending the piece a palpable coherence. At least that's what *I* think. :-) |
