Story Behind the Song
I wrote this song while sitting on a rooftop overlooking the Manhattan skyline. It was inspired by a conversation that I had with a friend; talking about relationships.

Damaged Goods
© 1998 Kearney/Keating
As I look into your eyes
I see the black that sits inside
It's cold as stone, the light is damage
Broken lines that stand alone
I want to lie in the desert
til my body is parched dry
roll in sand til I forget how to cry
want to look into the sun
in the center of the sky
stare til I see the blood that's stained your mind
Why can't you tell me?
How long are you gonna pass on the pain?
How long are you gonna pass on the pain?
These damaged goods can't be for sale,
the price is too high.
I want to drag my legs in sand
til my knees are scraped and raw
the pain is anesthesia to the hurt I feel inside
want to give you everything
my sinking heart's still open wide
but you made up your mind to play it safe and hide
Why can't you tell me?
Play it safe, don't feel again, until you've had enough revenge
Play it safe, don't feel again, until you've had enough revenge
Play it safe, don't feel again, until you've had enough revenge
How long are you gonna pass on the pain?
How long are you gonna pass on the pain?
These damaged goods can't be for sale,
the price is too high.
No, those damaged goods, they're not for sale,
the price is too high.
Play it safe, don't feel again
