Story Behind the Song
Raygun is Part II of The Space Zombies Trilogy. It is a social commentary, for society needs to be commented on, critìqued, scolded, etc. Satire is abound in this extended metaphor, recorded at The Loft in San Antonio.
Lyrics
there's a raygun pointed at my head but i am not afraid. my brain is already scrambled from the tv, and there's nowhere else to run to for the radiowaves are buzzing in my head and the microwaves will liquefy my insides. they've won; the zombies are taking over. i am not afraid anymore, anymore. one day i'll hold the raygun to your head, to your head. there's a raygun pointed at my head but i am not afraid. i've got a secret weapon; i've got a helmet to protect my soft little head. it's called fortitude, my reflecting shield. you'd better watch out; it's time to fight right back, and i'll win. my helmet blocks your death rays.
