Story Behind the Song
RER, Paris, France, 07.13.98, about 12h30 ***
The morning after France became the new world soccer champion, a singer in the RER sings a song that suits the occasion.
-------
Centre Pompidou, Paris, France, 12.02.00, evening ***
I took Alec to see a concert by 3 DJ's - Christian Marclay, DJ Olive and Erik M. - in the Centre Pompidou. The noise and often very loud, extreme sounds produced by the scratching of a variety of vinyl on multiple recordplayers frighten him so much, that we have to leave well before the improvised performance has gotten half way.
-------
Vincennes, France, 12.07.98, around midnight ***
The French celebrate. The national footbal team has just won the world championship. Horns, cries, cars, motorbikes, flooding all over the Avenue de Paris.
-------
Trouville, France, 24.07.98, early morning ***
Outside (rue des Rosiers): seagulls crying.
Montage: february 2000
