Story Behind the Song
I adapted this song in memory of a very special woman in my life who was taken from the earth and me prematurely by a drunk driver.
Lyrics
Refrain: Shady Grove, oh Shady Grove - we'll meet again on judgement day.
Verse 1: Cheeks as red as a blooming rose, eyes of the deepest brown. You are the darling of my heart, stay until the sun goes down.
Chorus: Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove my dear. Shady Grove my little love, I'm a gonna leave you here.
Verse 2: Last time I saw her face, she was standin' in the door. Shoes and stockin's in her hand, little bare feet on the floor.
Chorus:
Verse 3: Wished I had a big fine horse and corn to feed him on. A pretty little girl to stay at home to feed him when I'm gone.
Verse 4: Shady Grove, my little love, Shady Grove my dear. Shady Grove, oh Shady Grove - we'll meet again on judgement day.
