Story Behind the Song
The song was written in my studio apartment in Melbourne, Florida, in early 1985. At that time , i had my place decorated in a somewhat oriental style, which included a print by Wolfgang Grasse, in which we both saw a story unfold within the painting, and relayed our perceptions into a song, thus 'TwilightRavine(the cutting edge)' was born.
Lyrics
the darkness falls quietly upon us,
in twilight ravine, the cutting edge
the last rays leap valiently earthward
and eye see, ashes of quiet fortune...
twilight ravine,cold hard stone
the cutting edge, one stands alone
piercing steel, blisters souls within
blind serpents, falter 'neath locked gates
cutting edges, slice the violent air
halucinations of the white crane's blood...
twilight ravine, lime green mists
the cutting edge, is cutting my wrist
not the sword, but the hand that judges
knot the dream, but the mind creates fear
the razors edge in all its glory
mirrored lives, feelings on high...
twilight ravine, the juxtaposition
the cutting edge, balance and freedom.
