Power Pop song performed by a virtual "band". A great song with attitude, about hitting the bottom and realizing it was yourself that put you there. |

Story Behind the Song
The lyrics are not meant to be taken literally, however most of it is actually happened. Yes, I did have my car repossesed, live with a nut case for a roomate, have no money, get dumped by my girlfriend, seek a new life. The "Stinking Government" title originally was a reference to cigarettes, since at the time I was quitting smoking for the second time and chewing Nicorette by the boxful. I reworked the lyric to point to my own mental government and the desire to make a positive change in my life. It was a time when all things seemed to suck.
Lyrics
VERSE 1
Take my car and sanity
reposses me
you took my love like candy
well then eat me
you pushed me in the water
with nothing but a quarter
and left me there to die
'cause you know I can't swim
but I learned to float
'cause I'm lighter than you think
CHORUS
into another life
down roads that lead to love again
I wave to you bye bye
and overthrow your stinkin' government
VERSE 2
tempt me with the smoke again
until my eggs burn
I burned my sockets and held my breath for you
was living with a psycho
too late but how did I know
I was down there on the floor
when you kicked my dreams
you can't touch me now
'cause I'm higher than you think
CHORUS
BRIDGE
you
a banana peel on the floor
I tripped on you
VERSE 3
afraid I'm laughing in your face
'cause it feels good
you can't kill me now
'cause I'm wiser than you think
CHORUS
