Story Behind the Song
The Somethings are a new girl band who formed after meeting the Bard of Ely at a gig in the West End Centre, Aldershot. They have their own mp3.com website. They asked if they could support the Bard of Ely and he answered that they could do one better by backing him on a new song and this is it! It's an anti-Jubilee Sex Pistols tribute with a nod to David Icke and it came together as it is after one rehearsal in Elle's house. We have used the talents and instruments we had and nothing more, which is very DIY and punk in spirit!
Lyrics
The Queen's a reptile;
David Icke says so,
So maybe the Pistols got it right?
Maybe they were fighting the good fight?
Chorus:
It's the year 2 on twenty zero zero
And Johnny Rotten's still my hero.
That she's not human
Is something Johnny said;
Diana called the family lizards
And that's something that I've read.
Repeat chorus:
The Pistols got to number 1
But from the charts they were deleted,
So much for freedom and democracy
But punk won't be defeated.
Chorus:
It's the year 2 on twenty zero zero
And Johnny Rotten's still my hero.
We're the Somethings,
We've got it all planned
And we don't care if we get banned.
