Story Behind the Song
"City Bitches" was originally penned by songwriters Jack Brown and Bob Abbott in 1980, and is the first cut on 585-16's "Best In The West" (1995 Their Records ®). Recorded in Hollywood by power-pop rockers 585-16, this 1995 national indie release became very successful, garnering much airplay throughout the southwest, most notably in the Phoenix area.
585-16 sprang from a chance gig at the 1991 Arizona Music Conference in Phoenix, AZ, and led to a full length CD containing a collection of introspective melodies performed by three fine rock musicians, James Abbott, Chris Hanosh, and Bob Abbott. For more information: http://www.theirrecords.com
Lyrics
City Bitches
Words and music Bob Abbott and Jack Brown
City bitches know who you are, city bitches don't need no cars
send a limo but don't be late city bitch and a back seat date
lovely ladies, a cutting in line, and Eighty Cents is appearing on time
saving smiles for an empty seat when the sound hits the city street
The photographers follow you, the police look for something to prove
city bitches, city, city, city bitches
Wily women, a kissing and tell, and everybody is ringing their bell
metro mamas with unlisted lines, busy signals all the time
sorry lovers don't park at their door, only givers that give some more
saving money cause everything's free, yes free, well tell me
The paparazzi follow you, Interpol looks for something to prove
city bitches, city, city, city bitches
The thermometer says it's hot, and the street's shaking as she walks
bending over to tie her shoe, you're blind if it doesn't get to you
well window shopping for 14K, and a matching dress a little risque
turning heads at the escalator, well yes sir
The reporters follow you, looking for an interview
city bitches, city, city, city, city bitches
well city bitches, city bitches, city bitches, whoa, whoa, whoa
