A groovy song about floating through the clouds.
CD: Lame Suburban Poetry   Label: indie
Credits: written by Jones, Kee, Kitchen, Moonah & Stokes

    Story Behind the Song
    * Our very first attempt at group songwriting. The same day we wrote this we wrote another song called "The Naked Ghost of Ernest Hemingway", the two are forever linked in my mind. It was a very productive day. We should probably do it more. - Jeff

    * This one turned out really nice. Tara's voice is so sultry and perfect for this, and the wah guitar and the bass just before the chorus really make it. And I love the little Allman Brothers moment just before the solo! - Jay

    * I actually want to talk about this one in depth. This was another one of the songs I heard at my first rehearsal with the band. My first instinct was to double JJ leading into the solo. I thought that a unison line would serve as a break between sections and better lead the song. I then couldn't help myself and suggested that Jones play the harmony, a la Zep II Bring It On Home. I never get tired of the classic rock bag of tricks. Interestingly, I heard the pre-chorus subdivided into 16th notes, and along with Mark, suggested a disco feel. I think it worked out great. I'm not much of a songwriter, but I feel that the bass ended up making a significant contribution to this one. - Drew

    * This song really grew on me in the studio. it's one of though butt grooving tunes...I'm shaking my ass and I don't know why. - Tara

    * Reminds me of the 70's for some reason. - Mark

    Lyrics
Cloud Song (Jones, Kee, Kitchen, Moonah & Stokes)

    I'm floating
    High up in the atmosphere
    Emoting
All at once my worries and my fears

Evaporate like they were never there
I drift along alone without a care
    And I am weightless
    I am shameless
    I am free

Free - to float among the clouds
If the world is rude and loud
    I can ignore it
Oh I'm free - to celebrate and play
    I would do it everyday
But gravity I can't escape forever

    I'm floating
    Drifting in the stratosphere
    Devoting
Every single second I am here

    To the possibly, my dear
That everything on earth is crystal clear
    When you are weightless
    And you are shameless
    And you are free

Free - to float among the clouds
If the world is rude and loud
    I can ignore it
Oh I'm free - to celebrate and play
    I would do it everyday
But gravity I can't escape forever
