At the other end of the train a cell phone is ringing. ------- Flight IW5063, Paris-Tenerife, 07.22.00, late evening*** Around 23h30 , with no more than half an hour delay we leave Charles de Gaulle airport. The plane is less than half full. A cloudless sky and the city's bright lights give us a superb glance at Paris' urban geometrie, accompanied by some soft jazz playing from the onboard speaker system. ------- Tenerife, Canaries, 07.24.00, around 20h30 *** Evening buffet at our hotel, the Taimamo Tropical 1, at Santiago del Teide. ------- Flee market, Montreuil, France, 02.24.02, around 14h30*** A wet and grey sunday afternoon. I'm walking around in Montreuil, one of Paris' eastern suburbs, and happen upon the flee market next to the 'périphérique', the Parisian circular road. In one of the stands a radio plays some Arabic music, hooting of horns, then a salesman shouting: "Quatre euros, quatre euros!" ------- Paris, France 12.18.01, evening *** We attend the new show at the 'winter circus Bouglione' in the 11th arrondissement. Three acrobates prepare for this evening's salto mortale. And the drums started rolling ...
