Story Behind the Song
Catastrophe was written by Sean Fisher several years ago and was originally an odd little funky intrumental piece. After Sept. 11th Love and Death tried to complete the song with a more melancholy chorus and Fisher had half written the lyrics to express his feelings over the incident. After struggling wth the words he decided that the feeling of hope in the song was better communicated as a straightforward instrumental. The dance beat and clavichord hooks strongly indicate the influence funk (particularly Prince) has had on Love and Death's music.
