	Story Behind the Song The whimsical and heroic conclusion to Quartet # 1 is full of hummable themes, and complex counterpoint. The first, of the three movements to be composed, it also took the longest to compose: surprising since it sounds so much of spontanaity. The movement's main themes are inverted and retrograded versions of themes from the first and middle movements. They contrast the brooding of the first and the tragedy of the second.
