Story Behind the Song
"Full Moon Tonight" was recorded on May 7th, 8th and 9th at my studio, Soliton, in Bloomington and is about journeying to the moon. I've been back in school this last year pursuing a political science degree and took an astronomy course to fulfill a general science requirement. Much like years ago in high school, when it was looking like I wasn't going to get an absolutely ideal grade in the course, I turned to my default "impress the instructor" move; write a song related to class. Past class songwriting successes include the mythology trilogy of songs: "Merlin," "Hercules" and "Arthur."
Lyrics
The lunar chemistry
Resembling Mercury
Mission before '70
Brought on by Kennedy
A cratered world with blackened skies
Dusty seas and Kepler's eyes
Four days but it's all right
Gonna be a full moon tonight
Ah, ah
Full moon tonight
Ah, ah
Full moon
First quarter and waxing there
Apollo rocket in the air
Lunar highlands everywhere
Small step if we dare
Near the sea of tranquillity
Setting out to make history
Two-hundred degrees in the light
Gonna be a full moon tonight
Ah, ah
Full moon tonight
Ah, ah
Full moon tonight
Full moon tonight
Ah, ah
Full moon tonight
Ah, ah
Full moon tonight
Ah, ah
Full moon tonight
Ah, ah
