	Story Behind the Song The Northern Ecuadorian Amazon has suffered the consequences of 30 years of petrol exploitation. For the indigenous communities this has meant pollution, hunger, poverty and death (Yes, the incidence of cancer is very high in the affected communities). Now the petrol companies want to enter the South as well. Since 1996, the Argentine petrol company CGC is attempting to enter our territories. They bribe indigenous leaders and offer a thousand marvels in order to give illusions to the people, while at the same time they spread rumors and discord in order to divide us and destroy our organization. Two years ago, the representative of CGC publicly assured that the company would withdraw in case that they would not get 100% support from the communities within its concession called "Block 23".
