    Story Behind the Song
This song started out as a traditional rockabilly song. But when we went to record it, Joe Vitale gave it kind of a "Boys of Summer" groove to it (by the way he played on The Eagles Live album). It completely changed things around for the better. It's no wonder Joe has over 50 gold and platinum records.

    Lyrics
Lately I've been feelin' this sensation
Lost and lonely even a bit confused
I think a break from this preoccupation is what I can use.

Maybe it's the changing of the season
Maybe it's the coming of this age
Maybe I just need a taste of freedom, they say it's all the rage.

Think it might be the time to get away
Load everything I own in this ragtop Chevrolet
Shattered dreams in a broken town ain't enough to make me stay
Been here too long. Now I'm long gone.

I can hear a lonesome whistle blowin'
Restless motion keepin' me on track
All I know for sure is that I'm goin', no lookin' back
Some say that it seems like desperation, others say it looks like total fear
I say we all need rejuvenation this time of year.

Think it might be the time to get away
Load everything I own in this ragtop Chevrolet
Shattered dreams in a broken town ain't enough to make me stay Been here too long. Now I'm long gone. I'm long gone.

I think it might be the time to get away
Load everything I own in this ragtop Chevrolet
Shattered dreams in a broken town ain't enough to make me stay
Been here too long. Now I'm long gone.
Now I'm long gone. Now I'm long gone. Yeah. I'm long gone.
