	Story Behind the Song Many, many Holmes adaptations have been done for the radio over the last century. These scripts were adapted anew from the original Doyle stories. To portray Watson's worthy intellect, we jettisoned the most famous model, that of Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce, and opted for production values similar to the 1950s BBC broadcasts starring John Geilgud and Ralph Richardson. The Speckled Band is a tense drama, full of danger, with a tremendous performance by Blancett Reynolds, who captured the vulnerability and fearfulness of Helen Stoner perfectly. She also did all of the horses in the series! This is Scot's favorite of the trilogy. -- Glenn Carlson, Director
