a jam session of my UK band recorded with a handheld dictaphone. Lyrics by Andrew Ford music by Christian Vince, melody by Xn McGuire. I like this recording because of the counterpoint between the Andrew's guitar solo and the bass. |
CD: Solar Plexus in Nottingham, UK (1991)
Label: Grianeala Publishing for US
Credits: Lyrics - Andrew Ford; Music - Christian Vince; Melody and Bass Xn McGuire |
Story Behind the Song
Somewhere (and I think Mr. Christian Vince has it) there is a video recording of Solar Plexus, and on that recording Andrew Ford goes through some bogus explaination about the lyrics he wrote (incidently Ford usually wrote the music). This was an instance however where Vince had a great moment of inspiration and groove and just wrote a great little tune. - We never really thought it belonged with the rest of the music we were doing, it was sort of our "Pop" tune.
Lyrics
Sat down by the TV Set, the Fatman drinks his beer.
He can get his whites whiter still, but is this what he wants to hear
Half past 10, its time for bed, his eyes are getting sore.
Must be ready for the day ahead, but hasn't he seen this all before.
One Chance, a chance to find the way
One life, to find out what it all means
One Chance, a chance to find the way
One life, don't through it all away
A lonely woman sits in her home waiting for the telephone.
There are people all around her, but she feels that she is all alone
Got to do the washing today; hope the rain will stay away
How can she feel satisfied, can't she see it any other way.
